Make Extra Income On Vacation
This past weekend I spent the day with my wife and kids at a beautiful state park and the whole time I was also making extra income. Not only were the sites I already have established making me income using adsense, ebay , amazon and other affiliate programs but the actual vacation was providing me with the opportunity to get some great new content. Now you might ask what kind of content could I possibly get on vacation that would make extra income. If you read my last post on how to make extra income using AdSense you might understand a bit more. The key to making money with adsense is getting search traffic that is targeted for your specific topic.
You see advertisers pay google a fee to advertise on their search and the sites of those who use adsense to make exta money. Travel and vacation related search traffic as you can see using google’s adwords tool pays a pretty good cost per click. That is to say you make a pretty decent amount of extra income every time someone clicks on the ads you display. The only way you will be sucessful doing this is by getting the targeted type of traffic that the advertisers want. It wouldn’t do you any good trying to get income from a topic that doesn’t have anyone using adwords.
Lets use family vacation ideas as an example. As I mentioned earlier I was using my time with the kids and wife not only for enjoyment but also to make extra money by gathering quality content. This content can be photos of the park we visited, information gathered from the nature center, details about our trip to the Thomas Family Winery in Indiana or even reveiws of the resturants we eat at for dinner. If you get a chance definately stop in and do some wine tasting you won’t regret it. Looking back in this post you will notice how I mentioned a site using a very specific keyword “family vacation ideas”. Hmm now If I were wanting to make extra income from adsense and had a site about my family day trips or vacations that might be a good term to get search traffic to my site. A look at google’s adwordskeyword research tool will show how I can make extra income by getting a site ranked #1 for that term. If you bother too look up the term you’ll notice that that estimated cost for the top three advertising spots has a cost per click of about $2.50. That means that each time you send a user to an advertiser by using adsense they(Google) will make approximately $2.50 for each click. Now that amount does decrease when you drop below the top 3 in the google search for your keyword. In order to make the most extra income possible you will have to get your site ranking in the top 3 searches for your term. I’ll discuss later on some way to get ranked in the searches. You’ll notice the site I mentioned above does not yet meet that criteria and as such doesn’t make much money. I’m just using this as an example of how you can make extra income even while on vacation.
Now as the publisher of the adsense ads you will make a portion of the cost per click that the advertiser pays google when they click on an ad from your site. The higher the cpc and the higher you rank for your given key terms the more money you will make. I know this isn’t a great explaination of how you make extra income on vacation but if you look at the site used in my example you’ll get a general idea of how it’s done. I have listed several good resources of other sites throughout my blog and you can find more here on my links page
