Dirty Blue Widgets Contest Killing Me

I mentioned in an earlier post about the seo contest on dirty blue widgets that I was taking part in.  In hind site I probably should have went with the beginner contest and focused on the not so dirty blue widgets instead.  I started out pretty strong staying in the first two pages of the google searches in most data centers I checked and then dropped like a rock back to about the 12th page.  I was please to see that some of my efforts have started to pay off as I’m now slowly moving back up in the ranks for dirty blue widgets.  page 4 last time I checked.

Anyway I definitely bit off more than I could chew competing with some of these guys and gals.  I knew I didnt really stand much of a chance in out doing some of these seo experts but figured I would learn more going against them.  I could have probably been a much bigger threat competing in the contest against other blue widget newbies.  While I’m most likely not going to win this as I work full time at another job and don’t have as much time to focus my efforts as I would like, I have definitely learned a lot about seo already.  Proving that following and researching the successfuldirty blue widget marketers has made this contest worth it.  I’ll keep plugging away at it as time allows to see how high I can actually move up in the next 30 days.  Maybe Christmas will be kind to me and the links will come flooding in.
